Airbus Helicopters delivered the first EC145 T2  to German air rescue company DRF Luftrettung yesterday. More than 200 people attended the celebratory event held in Donauwörth, Germany, where the helicopter was developed and manufactured.

Check out the video of this first delivery of the more than 100 aircraft ordered.

“We are really happy to have this ship in our fleet. We have been a customer for nearly 40 years, and I think that says it all, that we are in a good partnership,” said Steffen Lutz, a member of the DRF Luftrettung Board of Directors.

“As a pilot, I am really looking forward to flying this new innovative aircraft," said Franz Ahollinger, pilot at DRF Luftrettung. "The new avionics system really improves the working environment for pilots and makes it a lot easier. The second thing is of course the new autopilot. We were demonstrated its features in our acceptance flights, and they were really impressive.”

The EC145 T2 is the next-generation rotorcraft of Airbus Helicopters' successful BK117/EC145 family.  The twin-engine, four-ton-class, multi-role helicopter is the quietest in its class, with improved performance and lower operating costs. It was first presented in 2011 and is the latest addition to Airbus Helicopters’ BK117/EC145 family, which has enjoyed decades of success.
